Relics of St. Bernadette in Kilkenny
The Relics of Saint Bernadette will visit the Diocese of Ossory on next Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd September. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us to honour the little girl from Lourdes who received 18 visits from Our Lady in 1858. The official timetable is as follows, but the relics will be available for private prayer and veneration outside these times: –
Saturday, 21st September
12.00: Formal reception of the Relics of St. Bernadette with Mass of Saint Bernadette. Celebrant: Bishop Niall Coll.
15.00: Rosary. Leader: Kilkenny Dominican Rosary Group
18.00: Water Gesture Ceremony. Leader: Fr. Dan Carroll, Chaplain, Group 174, Irish Pilgrimage Trust.
19.30: Ceremony of Light and Concluding Prayers. Leader: Fr. Anthony O’Connor,
Director of the Ossory Lourdes Pilgrimage
Sunday, 22nd September
11.00: Sunday Mass (beginning with sprinkling the congregation with the Water of
Lourdes). Celebrant: Fr. Dermot Ryan Adm., St. Mary’s Cathedral
15.00: Rosary. Leader : Breda Campion, Ossory Lourdes Pilgrimage Group
17.30: Sunday Mass (beginning with sprinkling the congregation with the Water of
Lourdes). Celebrant: Fr. Anthony O’Connor Director of the Ossory Lourdes
Pilgrimage.
19.30: Bishop Coll leads a Farewell Ceremony involving a reading from the account given
by Saint Bernadette of the apparitions followed by a Ceremony of Light.
