When we discovered on Wednesday that the roads in the vicinity of St. John’s Church would be closed at Mass time on next Saturday evening we contacted Kilkenny County Council to make known our disappointment that the members of the congregation would be unable to access the church for Mass.  We received the following message from a Council official on Thursday afternoon: –

“I would like to reassure you that, while Dublin Road will be closed to through traffic between 18:00 and 20:00 on Saturday, vehicular access to St John’s Church will be maintained throughout the event via the inbound lane of Dublin Road.  Gardaí, stewards and traffic management personnel will be fully briefed to ensure that access is facilitated at all times.”

We advise that those coming to our 6.00pm Mass on Saturday evening should give themselves plenty of time and approach St. John’s Church via the inbound lane of the Dublin Road.  We apologise for the late notice but St. John’s Parish was unaware of the closures until Wednesday of this week.
